SHEBOYGAN – In a Wisconsin State League and Northeastern Wisconsin Baseball League matchup, the Sheboygan A’s faced the Oshkosh Giants last night at Wildwood Baseball Park.

The A’s had costly errors in the first inning giving the Giants a 2-0 lead, but from then on A’s pitching was dominant. Former UW-Whitewater standout Eric Schmitz picked up the win, striking out nine in seven complete innings of work. AJ Alessi pitched a scoreless eighth and Brandon Winfield came on in the ninth striking out the side and picking up the save.

A’s got their offense rolling in the fourth with a RBI sacrifice fly by Carter Amundsen, scoring Wyatt Olson bringing the score to 2-1 Giants. Later in the inning, Dan Barwick singled home Adam Ryan to tie the game at two. Barwick was swinging a hot bat as he went 3-5 with a stolen base and an RBI.

Dylan Detert added an RBI single, scoring Taylor Grimm in the sixth inning to give the A’s a 3-2 lead.

The A’s will travel to Kenosha tonight to take on the Kings in a Wisconsin State League battle. First pitch scheduled for 7:30 PM. The A’s return to Wildwood Park this weekend with a 4-game series against the powerhouse Lombard Orioles.
