Ryan Solberg of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee baseball team has been named a
member of the 2014 ABCA/Rawlings All-Region team and also signed a
professional contract to play for the Schaumburg Boomers of the Frontier
League.

Solberg, the Horizon League Player of the Year this past season,

offensive campaign. He finished first or second in batting average
(.368), slugging percentage (.573), on-base percentage (.447), hits
(68), home runs (7), runs batted in (43) and total bases (106). He also
led the league with 24 stolen bases, tying the UWM school record for
steals in a season in the process.

Solberg was a Second-Team All-Mideast Region honoree, one of four Horizon League players chosen to the prestigious squad.

“I am very excited to have the opportunity to continue my
baseball career,” Solberg said. “I am looking forward to everything
coming my way this season and enjoying the experience.”

The Boomers, located in Schaumberg, Ill., are coming off a championship in 2013 and ranked fourth in the league in attendance.

Solberg played for the A’s in 2011, hitting .281 with two home runs and 25 RBI in 43 games.
