A’s Sweep Eau Claire Weekend

Posted: June 9, 2014

The Sheboygan A’s, who got off to a bad Wisconsin State League start
in Kenosha last Thursday night, righted the ship in Eau Claire, sweeping the
4-game series against the Cavaliers at Carson Park.

On Sunday the A’s chalked
up 2-1 and 10-2; Saturday’s wins were by 2-1 and 5-2.

On Sunday, Zach Brenner
threw a 5-hitter in the first game to past the A’s to a 2-1 win. Colin Willis walked and
scored the A’s first run when the Cavs traded a run for a double play. The eventual winning run scored when Harry
Steldt doubled and scored on base hit by Chad Langley, who is making a habit of
driving in game-winning runs.   Steldt,
2-for3 with his double led the A’s.

Both teams finished with
five hits.

Eric Solberg had two
singles, a double and scored three runs to lead the offense to a double-digit
output.

Winning pitcher Taylor
Ditter and relievers AJ Alessi and Max Kramsky combined to hold Eau Claire to
six hits.

On Saturday, the A’s got
the first game winning run in the extra 8th inning when Willis drove
in Dan Barwick.  Derek Loomans was the
winning pitcher.

Brandon Winfield threw a
2-hitter with eight strikeouts to get the win in game two.  Sam Mattheis drove in two runs to lead
sticking.

The A’s, 8-3 after the
weekend action, travel to Manitowoc Tuesday night and then gear up for the big
Sponsors Night game Wednesday night against Oshkosh at Wildwood Park.
