A’s drop home opener

Posted: May 31, 2014

Derek Loomans pitched about as well as the Sheboygan A’s could have hoped for in the team’s home opener.

Unfortunately the gem had to come against against five-time Northeastern Wisconsin League pitcher of the year Jason Wierschke.

Allowing
no hits through five innings, Wierschke held the A’s to a pair of hits
as Sheboygan kicked off a four-game homestand with a 2-1 loss to the
defending NWL champion Menasha Macs 2-1 on Friday night.

Chad
Langley had a single in the sixth inning for Sheboygan, which enters
today’s doubleheader against the West Allis Nationals at 1-1 overall and
1-1 in the NWL.

Harry Steldt hit a double in the seventh inning
for Sheboygan’s other hit. Blake Fleischman scored Cole Heili on a
fielder’s choice later in the inning.

Loomans pitched eight innings and allowed six hits with Taylor Ditter pitching a perfect ninth for the A’s.

Bryce
Taylor and Brandon Winfield will start in today’s doubleheader, which
will kick off with a 4:15 p.m. ceremony to dedicate Wildwood Baseball
Park’s new scoreboard.

First pitch is slated for 5 p.m.
