A’s Overpower Oshkosh In WSL Challenge Opener

Posted: July 13, 2013

The Sheboygan A’s cruised to a 13-1 victory over the Oshkosh Giants in the Wisconsin State League Challenge opener at Wildwood Park Friday night. The win marked the A’s 13th straight victory.

The club is hoping the hot streak continues when it takes on Addison in a 7:30 p.m. game Saturday night and again on Sunday when it takes on Lombard and Kenosha in 12 and 2:30 p.m. games. While action continues at both Wildwood Park and Field of Dreams Diamonds this weekend, all A’s games are at Wildwood.

The A’s were in control from the outset as their scoreboard line read 320 44 compared to Oshkosh’s which managed a single digit in the third on Luke Gajewski’s home run.

Gajewski’s home run was one of only five hits surrendered by A’s starter and winner Derek Loomans. Meanwhile the A’s pounded Oshkosh pitching for 14 hits en route to 13 runs in the five innings of the mercy-ruled shortened game.

Trevor Theissen and Cole Heili each collected three hits and Harry Steldt and Sam Mattheis two in the win.

Action resumes with five games beginning at 12 noon Saturday (there is one 2:30 p.m. game at Field of Dreams) and picks up Sunday with 12 and 2:30 p.m. games at Wildwood and at both Field of Dreams diamonds.
