Schwarz Shuts Out Menasha As A’s Notch 11th Straight

Posted: July 11, 2013

Taylor Schwarz threw a complete game shutout at the Menasha Macs Wednesday night to lead the Sheboygan A’s to their 11th straight victory. The final score was 6-0.

The A’s will be gunning for #12 tonight in Manitowoc. Game time at Municipal Field is 7:30 with Trevor Nicholson on the mound for Sheboygan. After that they open the weekend’s Wisconsin State League Challenge with a 7:30 p.m. game against Oshkosh Friday night. Games will be played throughout the day Saturday and resume Sunday afternoon.

Schwarz was nicked for eight hits by Menasha, but despite that only one MAC reached third base and just three others made it as far as second. He struck out eight and didn’t walk anybody.

Conversely, Menasha’s Max Fredrick and Tim Kolbe combined for seven walks. Five of those strollers scored as the A’s made good use of their five hits.

They broke up a 0-0 game in the fifth when Ryan Schilter and Dan Barwick walked and Jeremy McCarty belted a double to score both. Then in the sixth a walk and a 2-base error was followed by Schilter’s ground ball that made it through Menasha’s drawn-up infield for two more runs.

They added another in the seventh with two walks followed by Trevor Theissen’s base hit, and yet another in the eighth when a walk was followed by Chad Langley’s long double.

The A’s are now 22-15 for the season and 9-6 in the Notheastern, two games out pending the results of the Oshkosh-Appleton game Wednesday night.
