Pietrantonio Leads A’s Past Kenosha

Posted: June 27, 2013

The Sheboygan A’s put it together Wednesday night.

They got a great start from Bryce Taylor, got clutch hits from Frank Pietrantonio and Ben Gordon and, save for a couple late-game miscues that made it interesting, they played well defensively.

The end result was a 5-1 victory over the front-running Kenosha Kings. The win pulls the A’s to within a game and one-half of the Kings in the Langsdorf League standings.

Taylor went eight innings, giving up only two hits, one a home run to Joe Ferro to account for Kenosha’s only run. Eric Schmitz pitched the ninth and got a game-ending double play after a couple errors gave Kenosha some life.

The game was 0-0 until Ferro got Kenosha’s first hit, a drive over the left field fence.

The A’s answered in the sixth. Two hit batsmen and an error loaded the bases with one out. Then Pietrantonio delivered an infield hit that was followed by a throwing error and Gordon’s clutch two-run single. A perfectly executed squeeze bunt by Gordon plated the charging Pietrantonio with the A’s fifth run of the game.

Pietrantonio’s two hits led the A’s offense.

The A’s take a 12-15 record into Tonight’s game against Oshkosh. Tonight is Golf night and a number of prizes will be available to participating fans.
