Schwarz, Heili Lead A’s Past Legends

The Sheboygan A’s bounced back from a sour weekend with a road victory against the Northern Illinois Legends Monday night.

Cole Heili and Taylor Schwarz each had some big hits and Sam Raff and Max Kramsky provided outstanding mound work to spark the 4-2 win.

The Legends took a 2-0 lead in the third but the A’s scored three in the sixth to take the lead. Heili hit the first of his two triples and scored on Chad Langley’s follow-up sacrifice fly. Then Grant Evans was hit by a pitch and Schwarz followed that with a 2-run home run to give the A’s the lead.

Heili hit a towering drive to the left-centerfield fence in the eighth inning for his second triple and raced home on an overthrow to third. The two triples followed a second inning double.

Raff, pitching on just three days’ rest allowed just five hits through 6 1/3 innings and allowed just one earned run. Kramsky earned the save throwing a hitless 2 2/3 innings.

The win puts the A’s at 5-2 in the Langsdorf League and 11-14 overall. They travel to Manitowoc Tuesday night to resume play in the Northeastern Wisconsin League.

The team returns home Wednesday night to play Kenosha. Wednesday is Sheboygan Falls Night with Shorewest Realty and the Optimist Club joining the festivities along with the Lakeshore 3rd/4th Diamonds team.
