A’s Win on Opening Day
Posted: May 30, 2013
A solid pitching performance and two big innings sparked the Sheboygan A’s to a 9-3 Opening Day victory over the Menasha MACS in a Northeastern Wisconsin League game at Wildwood Park Wednesday night.
Starter and winner Lucas Wilsing and relievers Taylor Ditter and Taylor Schwarz combined to limit the ordinarily hard-hitting Macs to just six hits. Two of them were big jobs as Matt Andrews hit a solo shot and Jeff Surman a 2-run blast to account for MAC scoring.
The A’s scored three in the first with doubles by Chad Langley and Cole Heili and they added six in the fifth with Heili, Jeremy McCarty and Grant Evans getting the big hits. Heili and Evans both had two hits for the night.
Wilsing struck out eight and gave up three hits in his five innings for the win.
The A’s have a 4-game Langsdorf League weekend ahead as they play West Allis in a 5 p.m. doubleheader on Saturday and host Northern Illinois in a 1 p.m. twosome Sunday. Saturday’s games follow the afternoon Project G.R. I.L.L. Unveiling program.
