Championship game postponed

Saturday night rains provided the Sheboygan A’s with a day off as it postponed the championship game of the Langsdorf League on Saturday night.

The A’s were scheduled to play the Kenosha Kings last night, but the prospect of heavy rains prompted league officials to call the game in the afternoon. It has been rescheduled for Thursday night.

The A’s upcoming schedule looks like this:

Sunday, Aug. 5, at Manitowoc, 7:30 p.m. Make up of earlier rained out game to complete the State League and Northeastern League regular season.

Monday, Aug. 6, at Green Bay Storm (Southwest High School), 7:30 p.m. First game of best of three Northeastern Wisconsin League Playoff Semifinals.

Tuesday, Aug. 7, Green Bay Storm at Wildwood Park, 7:30 p.m. Second game of NEW semis.

Wednesday, Aug. 8, at Green Bay Storm (if necessary), 7:30 p.m. Third game NEW semis.

Thursday, Aug. 9, at Kenosha Kings (Simmons Field), 7:30 p.m. Langsdorf League championship game.

Friday, Aug. 10-Sunday, Aug. 12 Northeastern Wisconsin League championship series (if the A’s qualify by winning the Green Bay Series.

Sunday, Aug. 19, Annual Golf Outing and bust-up. Cost is $75 per person ($25 for bust-up dinner only). 10 a.m. shotgun start, 5 p.m. dinner. A’s fans and family members are encouraged to attend the bust-up dinner, even if they do not golf. Call Scott Stangel (459-7368) or Sharon Van Veghel (458-7810) for information or to register.

Sunday, Sept. 2, Brewers excursion. Only seven seats remain on the bus. The club must call the Brewers on Monday with the final count so anyone interested must call Denny Moyer (458-6377) on Sunday.

The Sheboygan A's are members of the Wisconsin State League and Northeastern Wisconsin Baseball League. The A's have helped develop more than 43 players that have reached professional baseball, including 2002 World Series Champion Jarrod Washburn (Anaheim Angels).
