A’s get big victory over Oshkosh

The Sheboygan A’s committed a half-dozen errors Thursday night, but timely 2-out hitting and excellent pitching overcame the miscues.
When the nine rounds ended, the A’s had a 6-3 win over the Oshkosh Giants. The win bumps the A’s to 3-over in the Northeastern Wisconsin League at 10-7 and virtually tied with 8-5 Menasha. The Menasha game at 8-6 Green Bay was rained out. Thursday’s loss puts Oshkosh at 7-6 in the Northeastern Wisconsin League.
Ben Stanczyk got the win for the A’s with eight superb innings. He struck out nine, walked three and gave up only three hits. None of Oshkosh’s runs were earned.
Three A’s errors gave Oshkosh a 1-0 lead in the second inning, but Drew Pearson’s home run quickly tied it. An error and Harry Steldt’s 2-out single gave the A’s two runs and a 3-1 lead in the third.
Oshkosh got it to 3-2 with A’s errors again contributing, but then an error and Steldt’s 2-out double made it 5-2. Both teams added solo runs late in the game.
Steldt’s two hits and Pearson’s home run led the offense.
