Streak snapped: A’s fall to Bobcats
Posted: July 6, 2012
Cory Everts threw a complete game 6-hitter to enable the Kenosha Bobcats to set back the Sheboygan A’s by a 3-2 score at Wildwood Park Thursday night and snap a 4-game winning streak.
While Everts was tough and deserves accolades for the win, it must be reported that the A’s did not play well this night. Defensively, physical and mental errors extended innings and abetted Bobcat scoring, and offensively they ran themselves out of innings and had questionable at bats with runners in scoring position.
Further, defensive miscues led to two of the three Bobcat runs.
For Everts, the news is all good. Changing speeds and hitting spots, Everts was pretty much in control for the remainder of the night. The A’s had a runner on second base with one out in four different occasions, but failed to score in each of the four innings.
Ryan Schilter delivered a two-out, two strike double in the first to give the A’s a 2-0 lead. But they failed to score another run despite having runners on second with one out in four different innings. Taylor Schwarz had two hits, while Jack Schaefer took the tough loss for the A’s.
The A’s now play five games in the next three days in Green Bay and Eau Claire before returning to Wildwood Park Monday night for the Bud Light Night game against Manitowoc.
