Each week leading up to the season, SheboyganBaseball.org will look at how some Sheboygan A’s alumni, and A’s signed on for the current season are doing in their collegiate and professional seasons.

University of Illinois – Chicago
The UIC baseball team won its Horizon League-opening contest over defending tournament champions Wright State on Friday night, before falling in the final two games of the series.

Collin Weyer (2011) pitched 0.2 innings over the weekend, allowing no hits, no runs, and no walks on two batters faced.

University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee
The University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee baseball team took two of three in their Horizon League opening series versus Youngstown State.

Greg Blohowiak (2009, 2010) appeared in two games, pitching 2.1 innings, allowing two hits and one walk with no runs scored against him and one strikeout.

Alex Erdmann (2010) appeared in two games, going 1-8 at the plate. Erdmann has been used both pitching and hitting this season.

Derek Peake (2011), who is still recovering from a hand injury, appeared in two games in a pinch running role, scoring one run.

Ryan Solberg (2011) went 1-3 at the plate.

Valparaiso University
Valparaiso opened up its Horizon League schedule against Butler, dropping two of three.

Kevin Wild (2009, 2010) picked up the Crusaders only win, pitching six innings, allowing five runs and striking out six.

Purdue North Central
Colin Willis (2011) is leading the team in batting average (as of March 13) with a .490 average. Willis has 25 hits in 51 at bats, with four doubles, one home run and nine RBI. Willis is also 7-8 on stolen base attempts.

The Sheboygan A's are members of the Wisconsin State League and Northeastern Wisconsin Baseball League. The A's have helped develop more than 43 players that have reached professional baseball, including 2002 World Series Champion Jarrod Washburn (Anaheim Angels).
