Manitowoc Wins NEW Title

Posted: August 12, 2011

The Sheboygan A’s whipped the Manitowoc Bandits in game 2 of the best of three Northeastern Wisconsin Championship series.

The Bandits more than equaled the score, trouncing the A’s by a 10-2 score in the final game and winning the NEW title.

The A’s managed only seven hits off the Bandits Liam O’Brian while Manitowoc banged out 13 against three A’s pitchers.

The A’s scored first when the first three hitters of the game — Colin Willis, Greg Rhude and Tim Patzman — all singled. The A’s wouldn’t score again until Patzman and Ryan Solberg put doubles together in the sixth.

The 1-0 lead lasted only a half inning as Manitowoc tallied two in the bottom of the first on Sam Spurney’s double and led all the way, putting the game away with a 5-run seventh that was capped by a 2-run Spurney home run.

Kevin Valario had three hits for the Bandits, Brock Wetenkamp a pair of doubles, Spurney a home run and a double, and Josh Krowiorz a single and a double.

Patzman had three hits for the A’s.
