A’s Win Third Straight
Posted: June 18, 2011
For the second time in as many games, the Sheboygan A’s spotted the opposition three runs in the first inning and came back to win the ball game.
A solid Lannon-Sussex ball club hit the A’s with a 3-spot in the first inning Friday night at Wildwood Park, but the A’s treated their Fish Fryday Night crowd to a 6-4 come from behind victory.
A Charlie Reschke home run made it 3-1 after four. Lannon-Sussex moved it to 4-1 with another marker in the fifth, but the A’s tallied four runs in the sixth and never lost the lead.
Walks to Greg Ruhde and Harry Steldt started the sixth and then two straight singles by Justin Hunt and Ryan Schilter got two in and put the tying and lead runners on first and second. Joey Patzman successfully got the sacrifice bunt down, but Lannon-Sussex pitcher Nick Erd threw the ball into right field allowing Hunt to score the tying run.
Then Colin Willis hit a sacrifice fly to score Schilter and give the A’s a lead they would not lose.
Mitch Gardner threw eight strong innings to get his second win of the year and Jake Ristow threw a perfect ninth for the save.
Willlis led the A’s with two hits and a sac-fly and Hunt had two hits as well.
Now 8-4 overall, the A’s travel to Oshkosh Tuesday before returning home to Knights of Columbus night Wednesday when they play Green Bay. Next Thursday Manitowoc is in town for Legend Larry’s Wings and Things Night.
