Posted: August 8, 2010

The Sheboygan A’s pounded out 14 hits Sunday afternoon at Wildwood Park to beat the Appleotn Legends 9-6 and square the Northeastern Wisconsin playoff series at one win apiece.

It will be settled in Appleton Monday night at 7:30 p.m. The game is at Nienhuis Field.

Appleton won the opener by a bulging 15-5 score via the 10-run rule in Appleton Saturday afternoon.

Jack Larsen fought through the tough Appleton line-up for six innings and left the game in a 6-6 tie. Mitch Gardner came on and shut down the Legends in the last three innings and got a win when the A’s scored three runs in the seventh.

Taylor Schwarz got hit by a pitch to start the inning and moved to second on Joey Patzman’s sacrifice bunt. Alex Erdmann singled him in for the go-ahead run and after that, Matt Schilter doubled in Erdmann and Ryan Schilter singled in brother Matt for the insurance runs and the 3-run win.

Matt Schilter had four hits, Doug Dekoning three and Ryan Schilter and Erdmann both two for the A’s.

If the A’s win in Appleton Monday they will meet the winner of the Green Bay-Menasha series. If they lose their season will come to an end.

Going into Monday’s game, the A’s are 29-24.
