A’s Rebound, Beat Up Oshkosh; Host De Pere Tonight

Posted: August 6, 2010

Following what may have been their poorest outing of the season Wednesday night in the 9-5 loss to De Pere, the Sheboygan A’s bounded back with what might have been one of their best efforts of the year Thursday night.

The A’s beat up on the Oshkosh Giants at E.J. Schneider Field in Oshkosh by a 13-0 score.

The A’s play their final two regular season games of the year tonight when they host De Pere at Wildwood Baseball Park. The doubleheader gets under way at 7 p.m. Sam Raff and Will Madson are scheduled to pitch.

Last night Josh Uhen got his first start in a Sheboygan A’s uniform and held the Giants to just four hits over his six innings while sltriking out 10. Ryan Hamm pitched a scoreless seventh when the game was ended by the mercy rule. Uhen is a UW-Milwaukee recruit whom the A’s added to their reserve list after he completed his Legion season at Oshkosh.

Matt Schilter forecast what was to come when he led off the game with a long double and after stealing third base scored on brother Ryan’s sacrifice fly. The A’s hit Oshkosh with a 6-spot in the second with Colin Willis, Matt and Ryan Schilter, Joey Patzman and Kyle Edlhumnber (who got two hits in the inning) all driving in runs.

The A’s added four more in the sixth and a pair in the seventh.

Ryan Schilter drove in four runs with a single, double, triple and sacrifice fly. Matt Schilter had a single and two doubles, Willis had three hits and Edlhuber two.

If the A’s win tonight they will play in Appleton Saturday afternoon at 4:30 p.m. Following a flyover, former Brewer great Robin Yount will throw out the first pitch in that game in which the Appleton Legends are holding Hall of Fame ceremonies to honor the 1980 Appleton Foxes. If they qualify, the second game of the series will be held in Sheboygan Sunday at 1 p m.
