A’s Northeastern Hopes on the Line Tonight

Posted: August 1, 2010

The Sheboygan A’s won one and lost one Sunday. That’s not the news the A’s wanted to convey, but it is not all bad as they are still in the playoff race. Tonight will determine their fate.

Sunday’s win over Menasha and embarrassing lost to Manitowoc left them with seven losses in the Northeastern Wisconsin League. Green Bay has but six. The two teams play in a doubleheader in Green Bay tonight.

First pitch at VandenPlas Field at Green Bay Southwest Hgh school is 6:15 p.m.

Green Bay has six losses in the league, the A’s now have seven.

On Sunday the A’s beat Menasha 6-5 in the afternoon game, but lost to Manitowoc 11-1 in the evening half of the split twin bill.

Jack Larsen pitched a super game for the win and despite four walks in the nerve-wracking ninth inning off closer Conner Lenz, the A’s held on for the win.

Phil Kramsky had three hits and Ryan Schilter and Justin Hunt both had two.

Manitowoc jumped on the A’s for four runs in the third inning with Galen Duff hitting a solo home run and Brock Wetenkamp belting a 3-run homer. The A’s never threatened after that.

Alex Erdmann, who had a tremendous defensive game in the opener, got two hits for the A’s in the nightcap.

The A’s are now 24-20 overall, 11-14 in the Wisconsin State League and 10-7 in the Northeastern. Green Bay is 15-6.

The A’s play in Menasha Tuesday and return home to meet De Pere Wednesday night.
