A’s Cap Busy Week with Win, Sponsors Night Monday

Posted: July 3, 2010

The Sheboygan A’s took out the frustration of two midweek losses on the West Allis Nationals Friday night at Wildwood Baseball Park with an 11-1 win that ended with a mammoth Cody Marshall home run that soared over the centerfield fence.

Eric King made his A’s debut with a 5-inning 4-hit performance. King, headed for UW-Milwaukee this fall, is coming off an injury and just joined the team this week.

Everybody in the line-up had a base hit with Jordan Rennicke knocking in two runs with his two hits. Ryan Schilter, Doug Dekoning, Phil Kramsky and Greg Blohowiak all contributed two hits to the A’s 14-hit assault. Three spectacular double plays rounded out what perhaps was the A’s finest outing of the season.

After a win over Manitowoc Tuesday night, the A’s lost at home Wednesday to Kenosha 9-8 when a ninth inning rally fell short and to Menasha on Thursday night, 5-1. Ryan Schilter led the effort against Kenosha with three doubles and Taylor Schwarz and Justin Hunt each drove in two runs with two hits. The A’s managed only six hits off MenashA’s Jason Wierschke Thursday with Gabe Marshall getting two of them and driving in the A’s only run.

The A’s hold their annual Sponsors and Friends Night on Monday when they host Northeastern Wisconsin league leading Appleton. Game time is 7:30 p.m. with the tailgate event for invited soinsors and friends beginning at 5:30.

Tuesday night they travel to Oshkosh and Wednesday they are home with Menasha in Thrivent Food Pantry Night. Fans are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item on Wednesday night.

On Friday night, July 9, Wildwood Park willl be the site of the All-Star game pitting the stars of the Northeastern Wisconsin League against the stars of the Langsdorf League of Southeastern Wisconsin. The All-Star teams will be announced early next week.
