A’s Down Bandits

Behind the strong right arm of Ryan Schmitz, the Sheboygan A’s carved out a 4-2 victory over the Manitowoc Bandits on Sponsors and Friends Night at wildwood Park Monday.

Schmitz went 8 2/3 innings, giving up one earned run and striking out eight before yielding to Drew Powers who finished up to earn the save.

The win puts the A’s at 23-9 for the season, 12-8 in the Wisconsin State League and 13-1 in the Northeastern Wisconsin League.

Schmitz scattered eight hits and fanned eight in his win.

Manitowoc took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second inning, ut the A’s quickly tied it on Taylor Schwarz` double.

Manitowoc got another run in the fourth, but the A’s again answered, this time with three. Singled by David Novak, Gabe Marshall, Matt Schilter and Kreston Albright keyed the rally. Schmitz and Powers shut out Manitowoc the rest of the way to secure the win.

The A’s are in Oshkosh tonight and then return home Wednesday for a 7:30 p.m. game against Green Bay.

The Sheboygan A's are members of the Wisconsin State League and Northeastern Wisconsin Baseball League. The A's have helped develop more than 43 players that have reached professional baseball, including 2002 World Series Champion Jarrod Washburn (Anaheim Angels).
