Pankow Leads A’s Over Manitowoc

Derrick Pankow went the distance scattering seven hits and striking out 13 to lead the A’s to a pivotal 6-5 victory over the Manitowoc Bandits at Shiptown Tuesday night.

The win puts the A’s at 21-8 overall all, 11-8 in the Wisconsin State League and 11-0 in the Northeastern Wisconsin League. The A’s travel to Menasha tonight and Green Bay Thursday night to resume Northewastern Wisconsin play.

Kyle Schroeder touched Pankow for a 2-run home run in the first. Nohl Depies countered with a home run in the second for a 2-1 game and then in the third, Taylor Schwarz singled with one out and then stole sedond, Kreston Albright delivered a clutch hit to score Schwarz and then Tim Patzman smacked a 2-run home run for a 4-2 A’s lead.

Matt Steffen’s bases-clearing double in the fifth made it 5-4 for the Bandits.

The A’s tied it in the sixth, getting three hits, the third a 2-out clutch run-scoring single by Ryan Schmitz. They got the lead run in the seventh with Schwarz doubled and scored on Patzman’s base hit.

Pankow walked only one in his completle game effort to run his record to 2-0.

The Sheboygan A's are members of the Wisconsin State League and Northeastern Wisconsin Baseball League. The A's have helped develop more than 43 players that have reached professional baseball, including 2002 World Series Champion Jarrod Washburn (Anaheim Angels).
