Posted: June 4, 2008

Brad Mey pitched eight sparkling innings to stymie the Appleton Legends and enable the Sheboygan A’s to take a 7-1 victory in Appleton Wednesday night.

The win puts the A’s at 3-1 in the Northeastern Wisconsin League and 6-1 overall. They travel to Green Bay tonight for another Northeastern league game.

Mey struck out 11 and allowed only five hits and one unearned run in his eight innings of work. Zach Hoch was perfect in the final inning.

The A’s jolted appleton with three runs in the first inning. Tim Patzman drove in one with a base hit and Tim Salm knocked in a pair with another. The club added two runs in the third when Matt Schilter and Patzman doubled and Lucas Wilsing singled. Back to back doubles by Grant Berkovitz and Patzman and a follow-up single by Wilsing garnered two more runs in the ninth.

John Hendrick’s 2-out single after an error and a couple wild pitches accounted for Appleton’s run. Kevin Kangas took the loss.
