A’s Win Home Opener

Grant Berkovitz continued his torrid start and so did his team, the Sheboygan A’s.
Berkovitz hit his third home run in as many games this season for the A’s, who cruised to a 13-1 win over the Forest Thunder in their home opener on Friday night at Wildwood Baseball Park
The A’s scored eight runs in the third inning to break open the game.
Berkovitz had two hits, including a three-run home run, and four runs batted in. Tim Patzman had three hits, including a pair of doubles, and Ryan Schmitz had three hits and drove in four. Sheboygan (3-0) had 14 hits on the night.
Mike Rauwerdink went five innings and allowed one earned run on two hits. Zach Hoch and Taylor Schwarz pitched the rest of the way.
Sheboygan plays a doubleheader at De Pere on Sunday.
The Sheboygan A's are members of the Wisconsin State League and Northeastern Wisconsin Baseball League. The A's have helped develop more than 43 players that have reached professional baseball, including 2002 World Series Champion Jarrod Washburn (Anaheim Angels).
