MENASHA, WI- It was the fifth inning; it was 5-0, and everything was going well.

But under the stress of the powerful Menasha bats, the Sheboygan A‘s armor began to crack, yet they were clinging to a 7-6 lead entering the bottom half of the eighth inning.

Then came disaster.

The first 10 players Menasha sent to the plate in the bottom of the eighth scored. 16-7 Menasha. And that was the final as the A’s went quietly in the ninth.

After two outs, the A’s got five straight hits and scored four runs in the third inning. Josh Moses had a two run double and Mitch Sutton a run-scoring triple in the inning.

Remy Wilke started and pitched well, leaving the game with his club leading, 7-4.

The difficult schedule of recent weeks has drained the A’s pitching staff and position players turned pitchers worked in the final innings.

Meanwhile, the Macs called on relief ace Jack Taschner, a former Major Leaguer, who gave up one hit to Grant Kosanke and proceeded to retire 11 straight A’s to end the game.

The A’s play a doubleheader in De Pere tonight before returning home Wednesday to face West Allis.
