A’s Stun Appleton With Explosive Eighth Inning Comeback

A quiet night at the plate turned into an offensive explosion for the Sheboygan A’s on Monday, as they roared back from a six-run deficit to defeat Appleton 10-6 on the road.
Trailing 6-0 through seven innings and held to just four singles, the A’s erupted for eight runs on eight hits in the top of the eighth to flip the game on its head. After a groundout by Jimmy Juergensen opened the inning, Riley Palmquist walked, Hudson Wagner and Carter Kallies followed with singles, and Chase Hanselman drilled a three-run double to left-center. Harry Steldt then doubled to keep the line moving, Connor Lasch singled, and Jacob Neese smashed a triple to tie the game at 6-6.
After a pitching change, Calvin Keesler perfectly executed a suicide squeeze to give the A’s their first lead of the night. Juergensen kept things rolling with a single, moved to second on a wild pitch, and was driven in by a Palmquist double to make it 8-6.
In the ninth, Hanselman reached on a throwing error, and with two outs, Lasch delivered an RBI double. Neese followed with a run-scoring single to push the advantage to 10-6.
Noah Imrie started and went five innings, allowing four hits and three earned runs while working around a couple of errors. Nolan Sand followed with a strong relief effort, giving up just one run over the final four innings to pick up the win.
The victory keeps Sheboygan in first place in the Northeastern Wisconsin Baseball League with a 10-3 record (25-19 overall) and five league games remaining. The A’s next host Green Bay Wednesday in the final regular season home game. The 2025 season is presented by Meijer.
