Orioles Too Much for A’s on Sunday

Posted: June 10, 2024

The A’s had a tough go of it Sunday, getting shut out at home against the Lombard Orioles 9-0.

Lombard took an early lead with two runs in the first inning, and adding another two in the third. They then rattled off five more in the fifth which sealed the game, with the Orioles capitalizing on several key hits and Sheboygan’s defensive miscues.

Brad Rindfleisch, who started on the mound for the A’s, struggled a bit with his command. He went four innings, allowing four runs on three hits, while striking out three and walking six. Nate Stephany, Sawyer Kowalkowski, and Joey Pettit also pitched in relief, with Stephany surrendering five runs on five hits in the fifth, Kowalkowski allowing no runs and one hit over one inning, and Pettit allowing no hits and no walks with one strikeout in the final inning.

Offensively, Sheboygan struggled to find any momentum on Sunday, managing only two hits in the game, a double by Sean Tillmon and a single by Chase Hanselman.

The A’s will look to regroup for a busy stretch that will see them play 11 games in the next 9 days. The next home game is Tuesday, June 11 when the Appleton Legends come to Wildwood Park. The first 150 fans will receive a special edition poster, courtesy of Boneck Printing. The 2024 season is presented by Meijer.
