A’s Pull Away Late in 13-3 Victory Over Appleton

Sheboygan, WI – The Sheboygan A’s scored four, two, and five runs respectively in their final three at-bats to pull away late in a 13-3 run-rule victory over the Appleton Legends Friday night at Wildwood Park.

Trialing 3-2 entering the home half of the sixth, Jacob Neese (Parkland Community College) led of the inning with a home run to left center field that rang off the light pole to tie the game 3-3. Jimmy Juergensen (Concordia University-Wisconsin), Justin Schnell (UW-Stout), and Ian Merry (UW-Platteville) would also score in the inning on a pair of singles and a passed ball to put the A’s in front for the rest of the game.

Neese and Merry led the A’s offensively with three hits each as the club collected 12 total, along with five walks. Riley Palmquist (Marian University) added a double for the teams only other extra base hit.

A pair of Marian University Sabres pitched on the mound for the A’s, as Hunter Netzler made his first appearance of the season. Netzler started the game, going five innings, striking out five, allowing three hits, walking two, and no earned runs. He was replaced in the sixth by Michael Martinez who made his team-leading 13th appearance, throwing three innings of two-hit baseball, striking out four.

The A’s hit the road today for a Wisconsin State League doubleheader against the West Allis Nationals. The start time has been pushed back to 6 PM.
