SHEBOYGAN- The A’s squared off against the Green Bay Storm last night in a Northeastern Wisconsin Baseball League matchup winning 7-3.
Adam Tollefson was dominant on the mound for the Storm, striking out 11 A’s in six complete innings of work, but took the loss.
The Storm got on the board first in the third inning after an RBI double by Adam Enwiya, scoring Keaton Kastberg. Green Bay tacked on two more in the fifth. Making the score 3-0 Storm.
A’s bats were quiet early but Harry Steldt produced a two RBI double scoring Carter Amundsen and Hayden Fenner pulling the A’s with in one run, making the score 3-2 after five complete.
A’s starting pitcher Taylor Schwarz helped his cause in the six inning with a sacrifice bunt advancing Wyatt Olson and Nate Heili to third and second base respectively. Next, Fenner plated Olson with an unusual sacrifice fly caught by the catcher. Three Storm players converged along the third base line going for Fenner’s pop-up, neglecting to cover home plate. Olson recognized the Storm mistake and raced home.
A’s then took a 4-3 lead after a RBI single by Trevor Theissen and never looked back.
The A’s added three more runs in the seventh after a bases loaded bases clearing triple by Olson making the score 7-3 and that was enough insurance to lead the A’s to victory.
Taylor Schwarz was effective on the mound as he went 8 2/3 and picked up the victory. He tallied 10 strikeouts.
The A’s will take on the Oshkosh Giants tonight at Wildwood Baseball Park, first pitch is scheduled for 7:30 PM. It is Plymouth Dirt Track & T-shirt Night at the park.
