Skelton, Larry’s Distributing, Gruenkes Honored

Posted: January 8, 2014

C.J. Skelton was presented with the coveted R. Erlien Jewelers Golden A Award at the annual Sheboygan Athletic Club Awards Dinner held Jan. 4 at Breaking Bread.

Larry’s Distributing was cited as Sponsor of the Year and Tom & Aggie Gruenke were selected as Fans of the Year.

The Golden A Award is presented to a club member who has gone above and beyond the call, who has taken on a special project or who has gone beyond expectations in taking on one of the many jobs that club members take on every year.

Skelton, who works every inning of every home game doing the audio work in the press box, is usually the first to arrive at the park on game day and the last to leave.

Skelton set up and maintains the website and the A’s social media outlets. He designs A’s collateral material such as the pocket schedule, season tickets, promotional pieces, media ads and the annual game program magazine. He is now in the process of planning and creating the scoreboard video board advertising and informational features. Further, he is just finishing up the newly implemented 2014 sales brochure.

Larry’s has been the A’s top sponsor for more than 40 years, assisting with uniform expense in addition to sponsoring various events at the ball park and participating in just about all modems of print advertising and ballpark visibility.

Last year Larry’s donation to the new scoreboard project put the Athletic Club in a position to start the construction and spurred the two final contributions that enabled the club to successfully complete the project. Larry’s was represented at the dinner by company president Tyson Gutschow.

Tom and Aggie Gruenke have been A’s season ticket holders for more than 10 years and can be seen at just about every A’s home game. In addition to their support, they were instrumental in beginning and continue to be key organizers in Tri-Parish Night, one of the most popular outings at the ball park.
