Posted: August 10, 2013
Leading 1-0 after two innings on Friday night, the Sheboygan A’s baseball team allowed the host Menasha Macs to score two runs in the third inning and couldn’t recover in falling 4-1 in Game 1 of the best-of-three Northeastern Wisconsin Baseball League championship series.
Game 2 will be tonight in Sheboygan starting at 7:30 p.m. in what will be A’s fan appreciation night.
Each paid admission or season ticket holder in attendance will receive trinkets from A’s sponsor Larry’s Distributing (while supplies last), along with a certificate for 20 percent off on any item at the A’s souvenir booth. Additional prizes will be awarded every inning, with several other prizes given away as part of a 50-50 raffle.
Game three, if necessary, will be at noon Sunday in Menasha.
After four innings each team had five hits. A passed ball led to a Macs run in the sixth inning that made it 3-1.
The Macs retired 16 straight A’s at one point, with Sheboygan not having a hit after the fourth inning.
Trevor Theissen led the A’s with two hits.
