Posted: July 8, 2013

The Sheboygan A’s are on a roll.

The club swept a demanding 5-game weekend road trip to move into first place in the Langsdorf League, run their winning streak to nine and boost their overall record to 20-15 after an uncanny stretch of 1-run and extra inning losses.

The red-hot A’s return to Wildwood Baseball Park Tuesday night to play the Green Bay Storm at 7:30 p.m. The Sheboygan County Baseball Old-timers will hold their annual picnic at the park before the game. The club will also welcome Charter Communications. On Wednesday they host Menasha on Thrivent Food Pantry Night to which fans are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item. It is also Mayline night.

Weekend Summary

Saturday, Game Two.
A’s 3, Burlington 1. Nolan Peterson made his first start for the A’s and gave up only unearned run in a complete game (7-inning) effort. The A’s scored single runs in each of the first three innings and Peterson made them stand up. Ryan Schilter and Chad Langley each had two hits and Langley and Ben Gordon each a run batted in.

Saturday, Game Three.

Sunday, Game One.
A’s 6, Genoa City 5 (8 innings). The A’s blew a 5-0 lead as Genoa City battled back to tie the game and send it into extra innings. A’s starter Derek Loomans was perfect through four innings as the A’s were building the 5-run lead, but CG’s Jon Schoch led off the fifth with a home run and the Red Dog comeback was on. Greg Rhude opened the extra eighth inning with a double. Theissen had every intention of bunting him to third but would end up with a base hit and when the late, errant throw bounded down with right field line Rhude was able to score on what would stand up as the winning run. Jordan DeBoer shut the door on Genoa City for the last 2 2/3 innings to get the win. Rhude finished with three hits, Theissen and Langley both had two. Heili hit another triple, Schmidt and Steldt doubles.

Sunday, Game Two.
