NEW playoffs set; A’s get #3 seed

Posted: August 3, 2012

Following the completion of Thursday’s games in the Northeastern Wiscosin League, the teams and seeds for the playoffs are now set.

The Oshkosh Giants have locked up the number one seed due to tie-breakers with the Green Bay Storm, who are the nubmer two seed.

Oshkosh and Green Bay tied with the same record, and split their regular season series. Due to the thrid tiebreaker, the Giants snag the top spot. They will host the number four seed Menasha Macs on Monday August 6 for game one of the three game semi-final series.

Meanwhile, the Sheboygan A’s, who will be the number three seed, start off their best-of-three semifinal series on the road at Green Bay. That series also is scheduled to begin on Monday. The A’s will host game two of the series on Tuesday. If necessary, game three will be played on Wednesday in Green Bay.

The winners of each best-of-three semi-final series will meet for the league championship series (best-of-three). The highest seed will have home field advantage.

Last season, the A’s fell to the Manitowoc Bandits in the thrid game of the Northeastern Wisconsin League championship.

The A’s close out their Northeastern Wisconsin League regular season Sunday night at Manitowoc. Gametime is 7:30 pm.
