KENOSHA – The Kenosha Kings stopped the Sheboygan A’s 5-1 here Thursday night to wrap up their Langsdorf League schedule with a 15-3 record and walk away with the top seed the playoff series which starts later this month.

The A’s are 20-18 overall and 7-6 in the Langsdorf. Following tonight’s All-Star game the club will play a doubleheader in Burlington Saturday and will host Addison in a doubleheader at Wildwood Sunday.

The Kings broke up a 1-1 tie in the fifth inning when Jason Dennis’s deep fly ball got lost in the sky and fell for a 3-run inside the park home run. It was more than the short-handed A’s would ever overcome this night as they managed only three hits off the solid Kenosha pitching staff.

Ryan Kennedy worked the first six innings get the win. Brandon Winfield, normally the A’s closer, was called upon to start and took the loss despite turning in seven strong innings.

The A’s host the Langsdorf/Northeastern Wisconsin League All-Star game tonight at Wildwood Park. Festivities begin at 6:15 with the home run contest. The game gets under way at 7:30.

Tonight is Craft Beer Night with 8th Street Ale House coordinating the event. Several offerings of craft beers will be available. In addition it is Pine Club Night and Strikers Softball Night. 3 Guys and a Grill will be giving away a $5 gift certificate to the first 50 fans tonight in recognition of the A’s 50th season.
