Posted: June 3, 2012

The Sheboygan A’s were shut out in their first ever Langsdorf League game but came back to win the second and salvage a doubleheader split Saturday at Wildwood Baseball Park.

The A’s out hit West Allis 8-6 in the first game, but left eight on base and couldn’t score a run for Mitch Gardner and lost their first game of the season, 2-0.

West Allis scored a run in the first inning on a walk and two hits and added another in the second on Andy Kovarlik’s solo home run. Curt Pryal got the win. He struck out one, hit one and didn’t walk anybody.

Gardner struck out five and walked two in taking the tough loss. Jon Pacasso and Drew Pearson both had two hits for the A’s.

The A’s took a 2-0 lead in the second inning when Taylor Schwarz drove in a run with a triple and scored himself on Justin Hunt’s base hit. Dillion Engel got the win and Brandon Winfield the save – and he earned it, getting out of jams in both the sixth and seventh innings.

Harry Steldt had two hits for the A’s.

The club now plays seven straight road games before returning home on June 13 when they play Menasha in Wayne Larrivee “And There Is Your Dagger” Night. On Friday June 15 they host Burlington in Think Pick Strike Out Cancer Night.
