Sheboygan A's Baseball

Full Day At Wildwood Saturday

Posted: June 1, 2012

The Sheboygan A’s will play their first ever Langsdorf League game on Saturday at Wildwood Baseball Park, but fans will have to wait for Acts I and II to be completed first.

Act 1 is the Pat McCurdy Show at 2 p.m. and Act II the Legend Larry’s Chicken Wing Eating Contest at 4:00. The doubleheader will commence at 5 p.m. The A’s concessions stand will be open throughout the afternoon and brats and hamburgers will be available. The park will open at 1 p.m.

Fans are reminded that there is no charge for those who come to the McCurdy show and wing contest, but regular admission prices for the game will apply when the box office opens.

The A’s and Nationals have played eight times in the past, but never in a league game. The Nationals are members of the Langsdorf League in which the A’s will play for the first time this season. West Allis holds a 5-3 advantage in the series including a 4-2 win last year.

Mitch Gardner (1-0), who threw a no-hitter in the A’s season opener last Saturday against Manistee, MI, will start the first game. Either Lucas Wilsing or Dillion Engle gets the nod in the second.

Following Saturday’s game, the A’s will play seven straight games on the road before returning home June 13.

The club has announced that it has firmed up its Brewer Excursion for Sunday Sept. 2 when the Brewers play Pittsburgh Pirates. Cost is $55 which includes coach transportation, ticket and tailgate party. Fans can either send their checks to the A’s at PO Box 32, Sheboygan, WI 53082-0032, or register at any home game.

The Sheboygan A's are members of the Wisconsin State League and Northeastern Wisconsin Baseball League. The A's have helped develop more than 43 players that have reached professional baseball, including 2002 World Series Champion Jarrod Washburn (Anaheim Angels). All Sheboygan A's home games are played at Wildwood Baseball Park in Sheboygan. Connect with the A's on FacebookTwitterInstagram and YouTube.
