Shaun Wegner Steps Down As Manager

Posted: March 1, 2012

Shaun Wegner, who led the club to a 32-17 record in his first season as manager of the Sheboygan A’s, will not be returning for the 2012 season.

Wegner guided the A’s to a third place finish in the Wisconsin State League and got his team all the way to the final game of the Northeastern Wisconsin League playoffs in 2011. He will be joining the Lakeshore Chinooks of the Northwoods League as an assistant coach.

Although disappointed by the news, A’s general manager Denny Moyer was not surprised.

“Shaun wants a career in baseball and this is an opportunity for him to move up the ladder. I wish him the very best; he did a great job for us and I’m sure he will do a great job for the Chinooks. He’s a class act.” Moyer said.

Wegner was a 4-year Division 1 player at UW-Milwaukee and currently a graduate assistant coach at Minnesota State College in Mankato.
