Sheboygan Athletic Club Now Selling Bond Certificates

Posted: November 18, 2011

2012 marks the 50th year of Sheboygan A’s Baseball. It is going to be a very special year. The club is planning a variety of special events this season with the common theme and objective being to more closely tie the bond between the ball club, its fans and its community. We are kicking off the season with a major attempt to create a bond, to create a sense of partnership with our fans, our sponsors, and our community. We also want them to be aware of the huge risk we have taken to create for our community, fans and athletes one of the finest community ballparks in the state. We must admit that like most ideas, this one is borrowed.

In 1923, 1935, 1950, and again in 1997, the Green Bay Packers needed an infusion of capital to sustain the historic franchise. They issued stock that was gobbled up by their fans in Green Bay and throughout Wisconsin who wanted to see the team continue to compete in the National Football League.

The Packers count on their fans and community for annual subsistence – ticket sales, corporate boxes, advertising, pro shop sales. Their fans have come through to make the Packers a program unique to professional football.

The Sheboygan A’s count on their fans and community for annual subsistence – ticket sales, corporate donations, advertising, spirit wear sales. Their fans have come through to make the A’s a program unique to amateur baseball.

Just as the Packers were in those four years, the A’s right now are in the midst of a huge cash outlay because of the renovation work they are doing at Wildwood Baseball Park. Just as the Packers did, they are asking their fan base for additional help.

But they are not selling stock; they are selling “bond” certificates.

The A’s are offering their fan and sponsorship base the opportunity to purchase tax deductible Sustaining Bond Certificates. The certificates are available in amounts varying from $50 to $5,000.

The objective is to help the A’s through this difficult financial time, however an equally important goal is to provide an opportunity for community members to share in the accomplishments of the Sheboygan Athletic Club and to “bond” with the group that is continuing the long tradition of baseball in the community.

All participants will receive a “bond” certificate, will be invited to attend an annual pre-season meeting, will receive a varying number of tickets for the 2012 season, will be listed in the program and will be listed at the ballpark. Benefits increase according to the value of the certificate purchased.

But the real benefit is knowing you have created a bond; you have become an integral part of this community, and like the fans who bailed out the Packers, you will have helped us in an exceedingly trying time. Won’t you consider “bonding” with us and passing word of this program on to your friends? Right now, we are in need, just as the Packers were.
