A’s Win at Menasha

Posted: July 12, 2011

The Sheboygan A’s got solid pitching performances form Collin Weyer and Jack Archie to hold down the formidable Menasha Macs and come away with a 5-2 Northeastern Wisconsin League victory Monday night at Menasha.

Helped by an error, Menasha put up two runs in the first inning but Weyer put up goose eggs through eight and Archie pitched a perfect ninth for the save.

The A’s picked up three runs to take the lead in the fifth, when after two out, Derek Peake walked, Greg Rhude singled, Tim Patzman doubled in Peake, and Rhude and Patzman scored on Ryan Solberg’s base hit. A couple of Menasha errors and an RBI single by Charlie Reschke enabled the A’s to add on two insurance runs in the ninth.

The A’s are now 15-11 for the season and 4-5 in the Northeastern League. Second place Menasha drops to 7-5 in the league.

The A’s return home to Wildwood Baseball Park for three games later in the week.

On Thursday they host Oshkosh in a game that counts in both the Wisconsin State League and the Northeastern Wisconsin League, on Friday Green Bay is here and on Saturday afternoon Manitowoc, which leads both leagues, is here in key game.

Thursday is Three Guys and a Grill Night. Three Guys will be giving away a $10 gift certificate every inning and a $50 gift certificate in the ninth. Zion Covenant Church and the Sheboygan Rotary Club are holding outings at the park on Thursday.
