A’s Drop Pair To Legends

Posted: June 12, 2011

The road has not been kind to the Sheboygan A’s

They were rained out in the fourth inning at Kenosha Wednesday night.

Wet grounds prohibited them from playing in Green Bay Friday night.

And when the weather did cooperate, the Appleton Legends didn’t.

The Legends stuck the A’s twice Saturday afternoon, 5-4 in nine innings and 5-0.

Charlie Reschke’s home run gave the A’s an early 1-0 lead, but Appleton stormed back with three in the third. That held until the top of the seventh when the A’s took a 4-3 lead with Derek Peake’s double the big hit.

Appleton tied it in the bottom of the seventh to force extra innings and won it in the bottom of the ninth on John Hendrick’s walk-off hit.

Hendrick would be the hero of the day for Appleton as he shut the A’s out on three hits, striking out 11. Ryan Solberg had two of the three hits.

Connor Lenz in game one and Glenn Newell in game two took the losses for the A’s.

Now 5-3 for the season the A’s continue Northeastern Wisconsin play Monday night in Menasha before hosting Appleton Tuesday in the big Sponsors and Friends Night game.
