A’s Rack Up Win; Home Against Kenosha Tonight

The Sheboygan A’s strung together five straight hits in the middle of an 8-run fifth inning that propelled them to a 13-9 win at Manitowoc Tuesday night.

The win puts the A’s at 14-8 overall, 4-6 in the Wisconsin State League and 4-3 in the Northeastern Wisconsin League.

The club plays at home the next three nights before taking the holiday weekend off. The A’s host league-leading Kenosha (9-1 in State League play) tonight with Bank First National and Culver’s Restaurants as their special guests. They tangle with Menasha Thursday night in the Knights of Columbus’ annual KC Night and host West Allis Friday night when DuFour Advertising enjoys a group night.

Joey Patzman had two hits in the big fifth inning, the second coming with the bases loaded. His hit drove in two runs, but everybody scored. including Patzman who made it all the way around when Manitowoc’s infielders threw the ball around the lot.

Ryan Schilter led the A’s with three hits and three runs batted in. Patzman, Jared Fon and Ryan Schmitz all had two hits. All nine starters got at least one hit and scored at least one run, and seven of the nine drove in at least one run.

Ty Engler got the win and Ryan Eigenberger the save with 3 2/3s innings of solid relief.

The A’s send Kevin Wild to the mound tonight against the first-place Kings.

Monday, July 5 – The annual Sponsors and Friends night when the A’s entertain those who make Sheboygan Baseball possible at a tailgate party that begins at 5:30.

Friday July 9 – The Northeastern Wisconsin/Southeastern Wisconsin leagues’ All-Star game beginning with the 6 p.m. home run contest.

Saturday, July 10 – Nine 21’s Famous Pulled Pork Sandwich Night.

Sunday, July 11 – Hops Haven Day featuring Jeff’s Famous Pier 96 Lager.

Thursday, July 15 – Historic Baseball featuring the Greenbush Dead City’s against a team of Sheboygan physical education teachers at 6:30 p.m., followed by the Sheboygan A’s-Oshkosh Giants game, the rescheduled date of the June 15 rain out.

Saturday, July 17, Sheboygan County Baseball Old-timers night featuring the County Baseball Hall of Famers, and the A’s Apparel Clearance Sale.

Sunday, July 18, Hall of Fame Day, featuring the Induction of Dick Rasmussen into the Sheboygan A’s Hall of Fame, and day 2 of the A’s Apparel Clearance Sale.

Wednesday, July 21, Legend Larry’s Wings and Things Night.

Monday, July 26, Military Appreciation Night featuring the patriotic pre-game activities and the Heroes of the Diamond, the United States Military All-Star team playing against the A’s.

Fans are also reminded to make their reservations early for the Sheboygan A’s Aug. 22 golf outing and the Sept. 6 (Labor Day) Milwaukee Brewers trip. Information is available at the ball park.

The Sheboygan A's are members of the Wisconsin State League and Northeastern Wisconsin Baseball League.
