A’s Post Non-League Win, Play Manitowoc Tonght

Posted: June 24, 2010

A 5-run fifth inning broke open a tight ball game and paved the way to a 10-0 Sheboygan A’s victory over the Denmark Devil Bears at Wildwood Park Wednesday night.

The win puts the A’s at 12-4 for the season going into tonight’s 7:30 p.m. clash with the Manitowoc Bandits. Tonight’s game is doubly important as it counts in both the Northeastern and Wisconsin State League standings. Manitowoc posted a 6-2 win over Oshkosh in 13 innings at Oshkosh Tuesday night.

Ty Engler went all the way in a game shortened to seven innings by a couldburst. He struck out seven, walked one and allowed only three hits.

Gabe Marshall’s 2-run double and Jordan Rennicke’s 2-run single were the big hits in the decisive fifth inning.

Ryan Schilter, Ryan Schnmitz, Marshall, Kyle Edlhuber and Taylor Schwarz all had two hits for the A’s, with Marshall, Edlhuber, Rennicke and Schwarz all driving in two runs.

Chris Thousand took the loss.

Kevin Wild is scheduled to pitch for the A’s tonight. Tonight is Charter Communications night.
