A’s Return to Winning Trail

The Sheboygan A’s got a brilliand pitching performance from Eric Van Beck and some outstanding at bats from the bottom half of the line-up to get back on the winning trail.

The A’s posted a 2-1 Northeastern Wisconsin Leage victory over the Menasha Macs in Mactown Monday night. The win puts the A’s at 2-2 in the Northeastern League and 8-2 overall.

They return to action tonight against Oshkosh at Wildwood Park in a game that counts in both the Northeastern and Wisconsin State League standings. It is AAA Travel and Insurance Night tonight with the AAA staff promising a load of prizes for fans.

The A’s broke up a 0-0 tie in the fifth with leadoff hits by Jordan Rennicke and Alex Erdmann, a sacrifice bunt by Phil Kramsky and a sacrifice fly by Taylor Schwarz.

They scored their second run in the seventh with Rennicke, ERdmann and Kramsky stringing three straight hits together.

Van Beck struck out 10 and gave up only four hits in eight innings. After he surrendered a lead-off cougle in the ninth, Schwarz came on for the save.

Following tonight’s game, the club is home Wednesday with Green Bay in Bud Light NIght and Thursday with De Pere in the Mark Reinemann Benefit Game. After that, it is a four-game weekend in Chicago and then a Monday night trip to Kenosha.

The Sheboygan A's are members of the Wisconsin State League and Northeastern Wisconsin Baseball League. The A's have helped develop more than 43 players that have reached professional baseball, including 2002 World Series Champion Jarrod Washburn (Anaheim Angels).
