A’s Open League Play at Wildwood Tonight

The Sheboygan A’s open league play tonght with a 7:30 p.m. contest against the De Pere River Bandits at Wildwood Park.

After downing Howards Grove by a 13-7 count Wednesday night, the A’s take a 3-0 record into their Northeastern Wisconsin League opener.

First year right-hander Jack Archie is scheduled to start tonight.

The A’s and the Howards Riverdogs had a nice, clean 2-2 game going after five innings, but the A’s scored 11 runs in the final four innings and survived a 5-run Howards ninth to take the win.

Ty Engler got the win and pitched seven strong innings, save for the fifth when he opened the frame with four walks, but got away yielding only two runs. He finished with a dozen strikeouts and only those four walks.

Kyle Edlhuber drove in three runs wth two base hits and a triple, Ryan Schmitz had a pair of doubles and Matt Schilter and Taylor Schwarz two hits each.

Matt Schroeder led Howards with a single, double and a 9th inning 3-run home run. P.J. Weber had two hits.

The Sheboygan A's are members of the Wisconsin State League and Northeastern Wisconsin Baseball League. The A's have helped develop more than 43 players that have reached professional baseball, including 2002 World Series Champion Jarrod Washburn (Anaheim Angels).
