Sheboygan A's Baseball

Three Games for A’s this Week

Posted: June 1, 2010

Steadily getting into their busy season, the Sheboygan A’s played two games last week and they will play three more this week.

After that it gets serious with about six games every week until season’s end in August.

The club hopes to build on its 2-0 start with an exhbition game Wednesday night, June 2, at Howards Grove. It is set for an 8 p.m. start. After that they return home to play De Pere in their Northeastern Wisconsin League opener Thursday at 7:30 p.m. and on Saturday they host the Chicago Clout at 5 p.m.

Thursday’s game features the music of the 1960s. No groups are scheduled, so the tailgate area is wide open if any fans wish to put a last-minute tailgate party together. On Saturday the A’s will host the employees and their families from Trilling True Value Hardware, one of the A’s “can’t do without” sponsors. The A’s will also have their own party on Saturday as the parents and families of the players will gather with club members at 3:30 for a getting-to-know-you mixer and introduction to the program. Saturday features the Music of the 1970s. On Monday when the A’s play play Plymouth, the A’s house band II Cool makes its debut for the season.

The A’s piled up 11 runs in each of their first two games (11-3 over Two Rivers, 11-2 over Branch). Ryan Schmitz, Ryan Schilter, Ross Fassbinder, Taylor Schwarz, Kyle Edlhuber and Gabe Marshall are all hitting over .400 after the first two games. Will Madson and Bryan Dominick are 1-0 on the mound.

A’s Notes

The A’s have taken a dime-at-a-time approach to fund-raising for their Park Improvement Project and have asked fans to participate by joining the Pledg-Athon. Pledge a dollar a win, a dime a double, a quarter for every hitter an A’s pitcher strikes out. Or pick a player and pledge a dime for every hit or strikeout he gets. Pick any cagetory, team or individual; select any amount; and make your pledge. Use the form found elsewhere in this website or sign up at the ball park. No amount is too small. So far the dimes have added up to $17.60. Join the fun and watch the pot grow. Pledgers will be billed at season’s end.

Bryan Dominick, who pitched five strong innings against Branch has joined the Hornel club of the New York Collegiate League. The A’s wish him well.

UW-Milwaukee is competing in the NCAA Regionals and Madison College is in the National Junior College World Series. A number of A’s players are on both teams.

UW-Stevens Point made it to the Division III World Series, but bowed out. Four Point players will be joining the club this week.
