Sheboygan A's Baseball

Oshkosh Hands A’s 6th Straight Loss

Posted: July 15, 2009

Sometimes baseball is a microcosm of life. When things are going badly, you just have to ride it out.

On Wednesday night at Wildwood Baseball Park the Sheboygan A’s:
-Made only one error. It cost them two runs.
-Hit the ball on the nose six, eight, maybe 10 times. Right at people.
-Watched as the Oshkosh Giants scored six runs. Five of them after two were out.

Sometimes there is little you can do, except ride it out.

The Oshkosh Giants beat the Sheboygan A’s by a 6-4 score to move to within four games of Lombard, a 17-12 loser to Addison last night. The A’s drop to 12-14 in the Wisconsin State League and 24-16 overall.

They have an opportunity to right the ship tonight in a Northeastern Wisconsin League game against the De Pere Riverbandits. Game time is 7;30 p.m. with Radio 1420 The Breeze and Zion Church holding nights at the ball park.

Nohl Depies singled and scored the game’s first run in the second, but in the fourth, Oshkosh scored three runs to take a 3-1 lead. Gabe Marshall’s 2-run home run tied the game in the fourth, but that would be the end of A’s scoring until a threat in the ninth produced one run before it petered out. The three runs Oshkosh added in the fifth were the game clinchers.

Derek Hirosky had three hits for Oshkosh, Jake Mellan drove in two runs. Marshall finished with three runs batted in for the A’s. Tim Patzman had two hits.

Manager Chad Gehr will give the ball to Greg Blohowiak tonight to try to end the 6-game skid. Game time is 7:30. The club is home against Little Chute Friday night and against Janesville for a doubleheader Saturday.
