Oshkosh Outduels A’s; Storm Here Tonight

Posted: July 7, 2009

The Oshkosh Giants out-dueled the Sheboygan A’s at E.J. Schneider Field in Oshkosh Tuesday night to come out on top in a 2-1 battle.

The win drops the A’s to 12-9 in the Wisconsin State League and puts them at 23-10 for the season. Tonight the club hosts Green Bay in a Northeastern Wisconsin League game that is featuring Culver’s and Thrivent group outings. First pitch is 7:30 p.m.

Three Oshkosh pitchers stymied the A’s last night as they managed only three hits and left four runners in scoring position.

Oshkosh opened scoring with a run in the third, but the A’s ansered in the fourth when Kreston Albright was hit by a pitch, after two outs Lucas Wilsing walked and then then Nohl Depies singled in Albright. Although they got runners to third base in both the sixth and seventh innings, the A’s would not score again. Oshkosh got its winner in the seventh on four singles. That inning could have been worse save for Albright’s throwing out a runner at the plate.

Depies finished with two of the A’s three hits. Wilsing got the other. Taking the tough-luck loss was Derrick Pankow, who threw a cool 6-hitter and struck out seven. Aaron Droussand went 6 2/3 for Oshkosh. Voss got the win in relief and Kyle Kannenberg the save.
