Sheboygan A's Baseball

Happy Birthday To You

Posted: June 26, 2008

Never let it be said that the Sheboygan A’s don’t know how to throw a birthday party.

Taylor Schwarz celebrated his 19th birthday with a 6-hit, 2-0 shutout victory over the Oshkosh Giants.

Schwarz bested Kyle Kannenberg of Oshkosh whose slants stymied the A’s to the tune of just four hits. It was a pitching battle of beauty. But Phil Kramsky got two of those hits and both times those hits drove in Shawn Wozniak to account for the game’s scoring.

Schwarz had 1-2-3 innings in five if his nine innings and three others were 1-2-3-4 innings. He was in trouble only in the ninth. Hits by Peter Berg and Brad Demmin had runners at the corners with one out. So in control was Schwarz. that when Demmin singled Berg to third in the ninth, he was the first Giant of the game to get as far as second base! Then Grant Berkovitz speared Wes Munson’s line drive and nearly doubled off Demmin. Schwarz got Derek Hirosky on a dribbler to the mound to end the game.

Schwarz struck out four and didn’t walk anybody. Kannenberg fanned eight and walked two.

Kramsky got his RBI hits in the second and seventh inning.

Now 15-11 overall and 9-5 in the State League, the A’s revert to Northeastern League play Friday night against Little Chute. Gametime is 7:30. It is Fish Fryday Night a and the A’s will be serving fish lunches at the ball park beginning 5:45 p.m. It is Breeze 1420 Night with all folks showing their Breese tickets entitled to one fish fry at the regular price and another for $5.

The Fish Fry will go on at the Wildwood Park picnic area (under the pavilion or under the tents) rain or shine.
