Offense Limited As A’s Drop Weather-Shortened Game To Green Bay

Posted: July 12, 2025

A strong pitching performance from Jason Bunton kept the Sheboygan A’s in the game on Friday night, but the offense couldn’t find a breakthrough in a 2–0 loss to the Green Bay Blue Ribbons at Wildwood Park. The game was halted due to lightning and rain after six innings and officially called at 9:50 PM following a 30-minute delay as rain intensified.

Bunton turned in another quality start, striking out eight while allowing just five hits, one walk, and two earned runs over six innings of work. He kept Green Bay quiet for most of the night, retiring 10 of 11 at one point and working out of a fifth-inning jam with runners at second and third and only one out.

The Blue Ribbons opened the scoring in the top of the first with a pair of singles and a sacrifice fly. They added their second run in the sixth after a walk and a one-out double.

Offensively, the A’s put pressure on Green Bay starter Owen Deprez in nearly every inning but couldn’t capitalize. Sheboygan had runners reach in five of the six innings, including multiple baserunners in the third and fifth, but were stymied by nine strikeouts and a few well-timed defensive plays. Alex Ames drew two walks, while Harry Steldt, Connor Lasch, and Calvin Keesler each singled in the loss.

The A’s now sit two games under .500 in the Wisconsin State League at 8-10, but remain in first place in the NEWBL at 7-3. Overall, the A’s drop to 20-13. They return to Wildwood Park Saturday for a Wisconsin State League doubleheader against the Kenosha Kings at 3 PM, with Ron Wilke being inducted into the Hall of Fame between games. The 2025 season is presented by Meijer.
