A’s Clinch NEWBL Regular Season Title With 10–2 Win at Kewaskum
Posted: July 24, 2025
The Sheboygan A’s clinched the Northeastern Wisconsin Baseball League regular season title on Thursday night with a 10–2 win over Kewaskum. Combined with Green Bay’s loss, the victory secures Sheboygan the top seed and a direct berth in the NEWBL Playoff Championship Series, which begins August 5 at Wildwood Park. Game two will be on the road, and if a third game is needed, it will also be played in Sheboygan on August 7.
The A’s wasted little time getting on the board. Bradyn Horn tripled with one out in the first to deep right-center and scored on Harry Steldt’s RBI groundout to put Sheboygan ahead 1–0.
After a quiet second inning, Sheboygan exploded for five runs in the third. Hudson Wagner opened the frame with a walk and promptly stole second. Alex Ames put a ball in play that led to a throwing error, allowing Wagner to score. Steldt followed with an RBI single to left, then Jacob Neese grounded out to bring home a third run in the inning. John Hadley capped the rally by launching a two-run homer to right, extending the lead to 6–0.
Kewaskum got two runs back in the fourth, but Sheboygan’s pitching and defense kept them in check the rest of the way. Starter David Vanic navigated seven innings, scattering eight hits and allowing just two runs (one earned), while Gavin Gawronski closed the door with two shutout innings and five strikeouts.
Sheboygan added single runs in both the seventh and eighth innings. Neese doubled in the seventh to score Horn, and Chase Hanselman scored on a passed ball in the eighth to extend the A’s lead. Neese’s two-run home run in the ninth delivered the final dagger.
Horn went 3-for-4 with a triple, while Neese drive in three with Hadley and Steldt each driving in two. The A’s tallied 11 hits as a team and turned two double plays defensively.
The A’s will close out the regular season with games Friday in Appleton and Sunday in Greenville. They will then enjoy five days off before beginning play in the Wisconsin State League Tournament August 2-3 in Oshkosh, WI. The Wisconsin State League Tournament features the Wisconsin-based teams of the Wisconsin State League in a round-robin format, with the two top teams after round-robin play advancing to the tournament championship.
The A’s will play Saturday, August 2 at 12 PM against Green Bay, then again at 7:30 PM against West Allis. They return to Oshkosh on Sunday, August 3 to face Kenosha at 11 AM. If the A’s qualify for the WSL Tournament championship, that will take place at 4 PM on August 3.
Tickets for game one of the NEWBL Championship will be on sale soon. The 2025 season is presented by Meijer.
