A’s Drop Opening Game of NEWBL Classic
Posted: July 26, 2022
It was a hit-filled night in Appleton Monday night.
Unfortunately for the A’s, they were on the wrong side of things at the end, dropping a 9-6 decision to the Appleton Legends in the opening game of the NEWBL Classic, a round-robin post-season tournament in the NEWBL.
The A’s will take on the Menasha Macs tonight at 7:30 PM at Menasha’s Koslo Park.
The A’s were able to put 12 hits on the board, lead once again by Marian University’s Gus Walker with his three-hit performance.
The difference maker in the game was Appleton’s five-run fifth inning that led to a seven-run cushion for the Legends. The A’s would tally two in the sixth and two more in the seventh to close the gap.
Appleton put 13 hits on the board, none of which went for extra bases.
Following tonight’s game in Menasha, the A’s will play Greater Green Bay on Thursday in Green Bay to close out the tournament.
